MCC - Mosaic Conservation Course 2014 - 2016

Convento San Nicola, Belmonte in Sabina, Rieti

Preparations are under way for the Mosaic Conservation Course – MCC 2014-2016, dedicated to training conservators from North Africa and the Middle East in the treatment of lifted mosaics. The course is part of a wider initiative known as MOSAIKON, a strategic regional program for the conservation of mosaics in the southern and eastern Mediterranean. The program is a partnership between the Getty Conservation Institute, the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), and the International Committee for the Conservation of Mosaics (ICCM). The aim of MOSAIKON is to improve capacity in the region by training conservators and administrators that work on archaeological sites and museums with mosaics. The program also has the objective to strengthen professional networks in this field and facilitate access to technical information.

The course is based in CCA’s headquarters in Italy. Related activities will also take place in the wider Mediterranean region. We are expecting professionals from several countries to participate in the next two years.
