On the 23rd of May 2014, Prof. Roberto Nardi will give a lecture at the Institute National du Patrimoine (INP), Tunisia. The event will take place at 10.00am in Driba Hall, in the headquarters of INP. The topic of the lecture will be "The conservation of the mosaic of the Transfiguration in the monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai". He will present the conservation project carried out by Centro di Conservazione Archeologica (CCA), Rome, from 2005 to today.

The 12th Conference of the International Committee for the Conservation of Mosaics (ICCM) will be held in Sardinia (Italy), October 27-31 2014, at the invitation of the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici per le province di Sassari e Nuoro (Ministero dei Beni, delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo); with support from the University of Sassari, The Getty Conservation Institute and the University of Cyprus. Abstracts are being accepted for papers and posters on the theme: Conservation and Presentation of Mosaics: At What Cost?

Transport of the Monte Prama sculptures to Cagliari was successfully completed on February 20th 2014. Following conservation treatment in the laboratories of Li Punti (Sassari), the sculptures will be visible to the public for the first time this Spring at the Museum of Cagliari, which will host a special exhibition on Monte Prama.

In the course of the latest MOSAIKON Regional Advisory Meeting, held in Ravello from January 19th to 22nd 2014, Roberto Nardi and the Director General of the Libyan Department of Antiquities signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding a series of training courses for members of the Department of Antiquities. The Mosaic Conservation Courses (MCC) will take place in CCA’s operational headquarters in Belmonte in Sabina between 2014 and 2016.

Several of the 28 sculptures that form the Monte Prama collection will be on the move between February 3rd and 7th 2014. The sculptures will be de-assembled, packed and transported from the conservation laboratories in Li Punti, Sassari to the museums of Cabras (Oristano province) and Cagliari.

On January 13th 2014, several Monte Prama sculptures left the conservation laboratories in Li Punti, Sassari, headed towards the museums of Cabras (Oristano province), and Cagliari. The move involved de-assembling, packing, transporting and finally re-assembling several of the 28 Nuragic sculptures which form the Monte Prama collection.

On January 9th 2014 Prof. Nardi delivered a four hour seminar to the mosaic section’s final year students at Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione ed il Restauro (ISCR) in Rome. Technical aspects of mosaic conservation were discussed through the presentation of international case studies.

The Center for Archaeological Conservation recently gained renewal of the SOA certificate in the OS2 A category: "Decorated architectural surfaces and cultural heritage artifacts of historical, artistic, archaeological and ethno-anthropological significance", rank V. The certification is valid for five years.

On March 18th 2013, at the San Nicola Convent, CCA received the first inspection on Management and Quality Standards in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001-2008 quality certification, obtained by CCA in 2012.

On 28 and 29 January 2013 was held in Sardinia the preparatory work of the Twelfth Conference of the ICCM, the International Committee for the Conservation of Mosaics, which will take place on the island in 2014.

From Februry. 26 to March 29 2013 the second module of the training course for restorers of mosaic of the Departments of Antiquities of Jordan and Tunisia, will be held at the headquarters of the Centro di Conservazione Archeologica.
